Radio Interview

BFM 89.9 is one of Kuala Lumpur’s most popular radio stations and features a broad range of cultural, political and business programming as well as music. Last week I was fortunate to be interviewed by Umapagan Ampikaipakan for the Evening Edition. Uma proved a warm and engaging interviewer and brought out the best in me!

Our conversation ranged across the practice of men having secondary wives in historical Malaysia, the research involved in writing The Concubine’s Child, the challenges of writing as an outsider looking in, and of course… ghosts!
